SMART GLASSES INTEGRATION

2023 is being billed as the year of smart glasses and the rise of the AR metaverse. Apple is touted as the biggest player to release a mixed reality headset, and if past experience is any guide, the tech giant will have paid close attention to the work of other manufacturers and hit the market with a highly usable, ergonomic and aesthetically-pleasing device. As a hardware-agnostic platform, OVER is ready to integrate with the most widely-adopted hardware devices.

INTEROPERABILITY

Many believe the metaverse will not be a mainstream concern until we’ve cracked interoperability. However, while others puzzle over a solution, OVER has already published standards to create wearable and controllable NFTs that work by default on our platform. In early 2022 we collaborated with The Sandbox to make user assets available on OVER and this year we’re expanding interoperability with linked wearables, aiming for compatibility with non-native NFTs and assets.

LIVE EVENTS – OVER GATE CONSOLE

The OVER GATE Console is desktop software that allows users to create, manage and customize live AR events and performances on the OVER platform. From DJ gigs to parties to work meetings, you can invite friends and colleagues into bespoke rooms for unlimited fun or productivity. The first implementation will be integrated with the Rokoko motion tracking suit, which allows performers to be teleported into the metaverse, Ready Player One-style. With subsequent versions we’ll add webcam motion tracking integration and other popular motion tracking hardware.

Thanks to level of detail (lodding) segmentation, users of OVR GATE Consoles will be able to enjoy rendering of up to 50 concurrent photorealistic avatars per room.

Avatar concurrence
Currently, OVER facilitates a low-level messaging system for avatar coordinates that can scale up to 200k concurrent avatars attending a virtual event. We will further expand the number of concurrent avatars by implementing a P2P data exchange system.

Local and remote experiences

This year it will be possible to link two different experiences to each OVRLand – a remote and a local experience. This means that users publishing content to their OVRLand will be able to define a different experience for users that are at the OVRLand’s geographic coordinates (local) and those visiting the OVRLand via the app from another location (remote). The remote experience will include an ‘occlusive’ mode with optimized features such as a skybox, third-person view and joystick navigation.

Browser access

Expect remote occlusive experiences accessible from browsers to be another key feature made available this year. This will enhance ease of access and further expand the reach of the OVER ecosystem to more users globally.

AI Avatars

Since the launch of ChatGPT, the public has become aware of the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLM). Now imagine an LLM system – open source – applied to avatars. One in which you could create and deploy AR and VR avatars that could be personalized with the characteristics you prefer, e.g. intelligent agents, virtual companions, sales assistants, alter egos etc. Get ready. AI Avatars are coming to OVER in 2023!

The DAO

The OVER ecosystem is reaching its maturity stage. While a centralized structure was the optimal setting for nimble and fast development in the early stages of the journey, our vision to create a permissionless platform also requires a decentralized governance system – namely a DAO.

In 2023 we will launch the OVER DAO, with a governance model that will support the interests of the three main stakeholders in the OVER ecosystem: OVR token holders, OVRLand holders, and the Creator Community.
